In this project, I wanted to focus on the idea of appealing to a specific audience and the design decisions that are required to cater to those specific audiences. Poster designs for exhibits seemed like the perfect choice so I gave myself the prompt to create two poster designs for an Apollo Exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science using the same visual resources and one being targeted towards a mature audience and the other being targeted towards a youth audience. Appealing to an audience is extremely important because different visuals and design elements appeal to different demographics of people. To target the mature audience I stuck with a minimalistic approach and used only the colors presented in the image. To create contrast and make this advertisement pop, I displayed the logo of the Museum in the darkness of the abyss with a bright white. To a kid, however, this advertisement would not catch their eye. While still important, I focused less on highlighting the logo of the Museum and focused more on highlighting the astronaut and the adventurous intrigue of the exhibit. Bright colors, thick outlines, and adventurous and fun imagery helped me catch the eyes of younger audiences.
